What is the measured survey

A measured building survey is required for a home extension, loft conversion, refurbishment or redevelopment of a property. The point of the survey is to enable us to produce an accurate representation of your property in its current form. This will include floor plans, elevations and cross sections. Structural elements such as walls and columns will be shown, so will architectural features for example the location of windows and doors. The accuracy of the plans is important in order to be compliant with building regulations.

Our surveying team use a combination of tools and resources in order to achieve a high standard. You are likely to see our team member use a laser measuring device, a tape measure and an iPad or iPhone to take photos of the property and surrounding area.

Your floor plans will be produced in AutoCAD in 2D as standard, we can also produce 3D representations for you if requested. The scale of the drawings will be compliant with your local authorities with panning department and building regulations.

Measured survey process

The work on your measured survey begins long before we even attend your property we are busy collating information from multiple online sources that help us to create your plans.

Measurement can take a couple of hours to complete or longer depending on what is required and the type of work that you are planning on undertaking.

The break down of the process is as follows:

1. Property visit

At the agreed time of attendance, we will come to your property to start the detailed measured survey and take photographs of your property where required.

2. Floor Plans and Elevations

The measurements, photographs and othe data from the measured survey is then processed at our design studio in order to produce the floor plans, elevations and section of the existing property.

3. Proposed Design

Once we have your existing floor plans and elevations drawings the proposed plans can be drawn up. Head over to next stage of proposed design for more information click here >
